ABILITIES CENTRE PANDEMIC RESPONSE & CLOSURE FAQs
Last update: March 24, 2020
Is Abilities Centre still open to the public?
Due to our concern for the health and well-being of our community during the COVID-19 outbreak, Abilities Centre closed its facilities to the public temporarily for a period of three weeks, beginning Friday, March 13 at 5 pm.
When do you expect to re-open?
We hope to re-open our facility on April 6, 2020, but that cannot be confirmed at this time. The health and safety of our Abilities Centre community is our highest priority. We are working in cooperation with local health units and our partners as we continue to follow the situation closely, and as an organization we are committed to providing our community with regular updates as to how we are monitoring and managing this constantly evolving situation.
How will this pandemic affect Abilities Centre’s programs and services?
During this time, all Abilities Centre facility-based programs and services, including access to the premises, will be suspended until further notice. Access to tenant partners on site will also be restricted. We are deeply disappointed for the inconvenience this will no doubt cause to many people who are part of our community, including our members, program participants, volunteers and dedicated staff. We are committed to the operation of our centre and our mission of building more accessible and inclusive communities and look forward to resuming normal operations as soon as possible.
How do I make sure I stay current on what’s happening at Abilities Centre?
The best way to stay connected is to check your email frequently, along with any messaging posted in the centre. Staff are encouraged to check email frequently for notices and to bring any questions or concerns to their manager.
How can I reach someone at Abilities Centre to make changes to my membership or booking?
We ask our members, users and other visitors to please be patient in the weeks to come. Due to the closure, we will not have customer service staff available to facilitate these transactions. Rest assured that, in the days ahead and at such time that we can provide the highest quality of service and attention, that all inquiries and requests received will be addressed in full with the intent of providing a complete customer experience to our community.
I am not a member but take part in another program taking place at Abilities Centre. Are these still running?
All Abilities Centre programs and services are cancelled at this time, including programs such as THRIVE and ASAD.
I want to visit another organization that is in the Abilities Centre building. Can I?
All Abilities Centre tenant organizations have been advised of the facility closure and are cooperating in full. You may direct any specific inquiries regarding their services to these organizations directly.
