Community Relations Manager 

The primary responsibility of the Community Relations Manager is to take a leadership role in the development and execution of Community Relations initiatives designed to support the Centre's identified revenue objectives and customer service requirements.

The Community Relations Manager will design and implement a results-based outreach and special events strategy for the Centre and act as the key liaison with community groups.  This pivotal role will cultivate positive relationships for developing tailored strategies to gain and enhance the interest and the involvement of members and contribute to the fundraising goals of Abilities Centre.  This position will align and integrate all community programs, special events and fundraising programs with the Centre's brand marketing strategy and overall develop priorities.  The Community Relations Manager ensures that  Abilities Centre has strong community presence and will represent the Centre at appropriate events.  The Community Relations Manager ensures the highest level of customer service with all community stakeholders providing for appropriate level of Board involvement in all activation programs.    

Major Relationships:  Responsibility for building community relationships and alliances, internal and external, networking with others, further developing knowledge of industry leading community relations tactics, situations and culture in the organization to identify opportunities for execution at the Centre and the organization as a whole.  

Responsibilities also include:  Community Relations Strategy / Stakeholder Engagement Programs / Special Events and Fundraising / Media Relations / Issues Management & Crisis Communication strategic planning 

Qualifications / Special Skills:
- Strong Community relations and communications skills
- Solid customer service skills
- Excellent listening skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills, including presentation ability
- Strong follow-up skills and an ability to deal with tact, diplomacy and confidentiality

Experience and Education: 
- 5+ years experince within a sports and/or recreational programs environment
- 5+ years experince within a community relations management environment
- 5+ years media relations experience    
- Post Secondary Diploma / Degree
- Excellent computer skills i.e. Microsoft Office, Microsoft Publisher
- Knowledge and experience with Social Media  
 Will consider appropriate combinations of education and experience.
